“Paintings, Volume I” is now an ebook for iPad, iPhone or iPod. The book was originally published in print in 2009. “Paintings, Volume I” chronicles select work from 2004 through 2008. This digital edition is the same as the print edition, only now you can flip through it with your fingers on the Apple viewing device of your choice. This video is a sneak preview of what is inside the book. It was created with still shots of the pages in the book but the ebook itself is kinda fun to flip through it its page curls and animation of the pages (not shown in this video).

Paintings, Volume I

Good news! Paintings, Volume I is now available as an iBook for your iPad, iPod or iPhone.

I tried it out this morning on my iPhone and it works perfectly! I trust that it will work just as well on an iPod, or especially and iPad (can only imagine it on on iPad).

This little book has turned out to be an important way for me to archive my paintings over time. I know the print version is very well done, the paper feels very nice and the printing of the paintings is surprisingly well done (it exceeded my expectations).

My Spoon

I painted this spoon from life, a familiar object. I remember eating from it and also using it as a gardening tool in the backyard when I was a child. I didn’t eat the mud pies it helped dig and form but it worked perfectly well. There is only one, it was formerly part of a set but it is still a little trinket that I cherish.

Sailing in Halifax

When I posted this painting in the online gallery shop this morning I started to think that perhaps I have enough waterscape or seascape paintings available that I should make a new category, in stead of just adding it to the landscape category. Then, I realized that most of my landscape paintings involve water, either a river, lake or the ocean. Guess that’s what I get for being raised in Nova Scotia where the furthest from water you can get is 20-minutes. We’re surrounded! So, I think I’ll stick with the generic term “landscape” for now.  :)

This sailboat is tacking across the Halifax Harbour. I painted it with ink and watercolours on archival paper. I’ve never sailed on a small boat like this but I bet it is a lot of work and fun.
